Hollow brick
The hollow brick is normally used for the construction of partitions or dividing elements that do not have to support large loads.
CHARACTERISTICS
The hollow brick is a type of brick that has the characteristic of having through holes inside in the longitudinal direction. The total volume of the holes must be equal to or greater than 70% of the total volume of the brick. The purpose of these holes is to reduce the material and weight of the brick, facilitating its placement and reducing its cost.
Spanish regulations distinguish between lightened brick and hollow brick itself. In the first case, the voids occupy between 45% and 60% in volume and in the second, between 60% and 70%.
The partitions made with hollow brick do not usually have a resistant purpose, so they are normally used as dividing elements.
