Characteristics

Composition</strong >

KX 18 COLORS is a pre-mixed dry plaster composed of hydrated lime, hydraulic binder, selected aggregates, UV-resistant mineral pigments and specific additives to improve waterproofing, durability, adhesion and workability characteristics.

Presentation

Special sacks with protection against humidity of approx. 25 kg.

Use

KX 18 COLORS is used as a single coat machine-applied, mass-coloured plaster for interior and exterior use on brick, stone or mixed walls, concrete blocks, concrete. For special fillers, please consult the supplier's instructions.

KX 18 COLORS is an ideal product for jobs where an unconventional aesthetic effect is sought. Correct application and taking the necessary precautions for a particular product such as KX 18 COLORS will produce a final result that changes in different situations and is characterised by quality and uniqueness.

Support preparation

The wall must be clean of dust, dirt, saline efflorescence, etc. Possible remains of oils, greases, waxes, etc. They must be previously eliminated.
To obtain a good quality of the plaster and avoid excessive consumption of material, it is advisable to pay attention to the execution of the walls; The joints between the bricks must be well filled, any holes or breaks in the wall must be previously treated, the door frames must protrude a few millimeters.
In existing constructions, perform preliminary surface repair where necessary to obtain a firm and resistant support. To avoid strong discontinuities of the plaster subsequently applied, first level the surface of the wall using the filling technique with pieces of brick or the "stitch-unstitch" method using a compatible mortar.
To respect the verticality of the walls, place rulers in the corners. Alternatively, use only stainless steel or PVC corner pieces.
Concrete surfaces, porous brick blocks, heterogeneous supports, stone or supports with important differences in absorption must be previously treated with the S 650 splashing product.
In general, it is always recommended to use the S 650 splash before applying KX18 COLORS: applying a splash over the entire surface uniforms the support and limits the possible appearance of aesthetic and chromatic defects.

Material preparation

KX 18 COLORS can be worked with FASSA, PFT, PUTZKNECHT, PUTZMEISTER, TURBOSOL or similar plastering machines.
To minimize the risk of cracks appearing, the joints between different elements should be reinforced with the FASSANET MAXI alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh applied about 25 cm beyond the line of discontinuity of the materials. Provide for the application of the same mesh also in the corners and corners of openings, on heterogeneous supports, on irregular surfaces and at all points of possible stress concentration.
KX 18 COLORS is applied from the bottom up, in one or several coats depending on the finish chosen. Subsequently, it is leveled with an H-shaped or knife rule with horizontal and vertical strokes until a flat surface is obtained. The plaster is finished after a few hours with the surface finishing process "scraping", "troweling" or "sponge troweling".
Scraped finish: apply one or two coats with a product thickness of at least 18 mm for normal exposure areas or 23 mm for severe exposure areas; When the plaster is hardening and in any case within 8 hours, remove about 2-3 mm with the scraper. During the correct scraping phase, the material removed from the support should not adhere to the scraper.
Troweled finish: apply a first coat of product (at least 13 mm thick for normal exposure areas, 18 mm for severe exposure areas); When the first coat is sufficiently hardened but not completely dry and in any case within 24 hours, apply a second coat and trowel with a plastic trowel.
Sponge-troweled finish: apply a first coat of product (at least 13 mm thick for normal exposure areas, 18 mm for severe exposure areas); When the first coat is sufficiently hardened but not completely dry and in any case within 24 hours, apply a second coat and trowel with a sponge trowel.

Warnings

• Product for professional use.

• Always consult the safety sheet before use.

• Fresh plaster must be protected from frost and rapid setting. A minimum temperature of +8°C is recommended as a minimum value for application and for good hardening of the mortar. Below this value the setting would be delayed excessively and below 0 °C the fresh or even not completely hardened mortar would be exposed to the disruptive action of frost.

• Use at a temperature between +8 °C and +35 °C.

• Application in the presence of strong wind can cause the formation of cracks and "burns" of the plaster. In these conditions, it is recommended to take appropriate precautionary measures (protection of the application areas, application of the plaster in two layers, perfectly leveling the surface, etc.)

• Do not make "guides" or "cords" of plaster before applying the product.
• For applications on other supports not indicated in the field of use, it is recommended to contact the Technical Assistance Service.
• Do not apply KX 18 COLORS on supports affected by rising humidity.
• Do not apply KX 18 COLORS on plaster-based supports.
• Do not apply KX 18 COLORS on autoclave-cured cellular concrete, wood-cement, or mechanically weak tuff supports.
• To limit a chromatic discontinuity between the plaster and the corner pieces, it is recommended to paint the latter with 3 coats of PA 202 ACTIVE paint in a color no more intense than the color of the chosen plaster.
• Provide for the separation of the plaster from sidewalks, floors and horizontal surfaces in general to avoid the absorption of water by capillarity.
• Do not wet or touch up the product after application: obvious color discontinuities may occur.
• Do not use electric trowels to carry out the surface finishing process of the product.
• The color chart should be considered indicative. Evaluate the coloration and the chosen process using a preliminary sample.
• Different surface processes can cause variations in the perception of the same chromatic tone.
• Evaluate the coloration and the chosen process using a preliminary sample.
• The possible chromatic variability is a peculiar characteristic of the product due to the nature of the raw materials used (natural sands). Therefore, it is recommended to remove the material necessary to carry out the work from the same lot.
• The mineral nature of the raw materials used makes the chromatic variation a peculiar characteristic of the product and gives uniqueness to the final aesthetic.
• Due to the mineral nature of the raw materials used, it is possible to detect the presence of small particles or granules with different colors; This characteristic is normal in a product of natural origin and does not affect the quality and performance of the product.
• Chromatic uniformity is greatly influenced by the nature of the support, drying conditions and environmental thermohygrometric conditions. To limit shade variations, it is necessary to take some precautions:
     - avoid application on surfaces exposed to the sun and in the presence of strong wind;
     - avoid application during the coldest and wettest periods of the year;
     - do not apply the material on a facade at different times. Make technical cuts or interruptions near joints, downspouts and fascias;
     - avoid the coexistence of shadow areas and direct sunlight on the same surface during the application and drying phases. In particular, it is recommended to cover the scaffolding with tarps.
     - keep the mixing mode, mixing time and percentage of water for the mixture constant: variations in these parameters may cause differences in the color of the product.
• Applications of KX 18 COLORS in variable thicknesses may cause a lack of chromatic homogeneity.
• Chromatic unevenness is normal for the product and is due to the nature of the raw materials. For this reason, distortions and/or imperfections cannot be excluded.
• The nuances that distinguish the product and give it an aged appearance depend on the process and curing conditions of the product and are characterized by a random distribution on the surface.
• On facades with different orientation and/or exposure, the final chromatic effect could be irregular.
• To increase durability, the application of a suitable and compatible protective product, such as IS 510, on the cured product can be considered, previously carrying out a test.
• For applications on irregular supports it is not possible to exclude the formation of cracks.
• Atmospheric agents (precipitation, humidity) can modify the surface appearance of the product over time, with possible color variations that are more or less evident depending on the original color. The formation of rivulets after precipitation can cause whitening phenomena on the surface.

KX 18 W2 must be used in its original condition without adding foreign materials

Storage

Store dry for a period of no more than 12 months. The product, once expired, must be discarded according to current regulations.
