Characteristics

Composition

KX 16 W2 is a dry mortar composed of hydrated lime, hydraulic binder, selected sand and specific additives to improve workability and adherence.

Presentation

Special bags with moisture protection of approx. 25k

Use

KX 16 W2 is used as a mortar on brick walls, concrete blocks, raw concrete, etc. For special funds it is necessary to consult the supplier's indications.

Support preparation

The wall must be free of dust, dirt, saline efflorescence, etc. Any traces of oils, greases, waxes, etc. must be previously removed. Smooth concrete surfaces must be dry and previously treated with bonding materials such as SP 22 or S 650. An alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh reinforcement must be placed at the joint between different elements; the mesh should not be placed directly on the wall but rather it should be embedded in the superficial part of the plaster. To respect the perfect verticality of the walls, it is advisable to use corners or rulers in the angles and vertical guides on the walls.

Preparation of the material

KX 16 W2 is worked manually or with plastering machines such as FASSA, PFT or similar. It is applied in a single layer up to a thickness of 20 mm, projecting from the bottom up and, successively, it is straightened with H-shaped or knife-shaped rulers with horizontal and vertical strokes until a smooth surface is obtained. For thicknesses of 20 mm, the render must be applied in several successive layers, allowing a maximum of 4 hours to elapse and always paying attention to roughen the surface of the support. The total thickness must not exceed 30 mm. The mortar, after mixing with water, must be applied within two hours. The surface processing of the render (floating, scraping, etc.) is carried out within 1.5-4 hours after application depending on the environmental conditions and the type of surface. For outdoor applications, to obtain an ideal homogeneous and compact surface For finishing renders, it is advisable to finish the render with a plastic or wooden float. When necessary, for example, in the case of heterogeneous surfaces, use the double leveling technique with the mesh embedded in the first coat of the mortar for leveling, to minimize the possibility of microcrack formation.

Warnings

• Product for professional use.

• Always consult the safety data sheet before use.

• Fresh mortar must be protected from frost and quick setting. A temperature of +5°C is recommended as the minimum value for the application and for the good hardening of the mortar.

• Make adequate air circulation in the premises after application until complete drying, avoiding strong thermal jumps in the environments.

• Do not wet or touch up the product after its application: discontinuities of color can be generated.

• For applications on special supports (wood-cement panels, some types of insulating wall, etc.) the absence of cracks is not guaranteed. Our commercial technicians are at your disposal to advise you on the best method to follow to limit these inconveniences. In all cases it is advisable to consult the instructions of the fund provider.

• Paints, coatings, etc. They should only be applied after the plaster has dried.

• The application in the presence of strong wind can cause the formation of fissures and "burns" of the render. In these conditions, it is recommended to take appropriate precautionary measures (protection of the application areas, application of the plaster in two layers, perfectly leveling the surface, etc.)

KX 16 W2 must be used in its original state without adding foreign materials.

Storage

Store dry for a period not exceeding 12 months
